Chase Family 4th @ Lake Union
Join JACK for the largest and most spectacular fireworks in the Northwest – the Chase Family 4th at Lake Union on Saturday, July 4th in Gas Works Park! The Seattle Seafair Pirates are Landing!
On Alki Beach in West Seattle on Saturday, July 11. This be yer warnin’ shot! The cutthroat Seafair Pirates crew has made a deal with their new Captain Kidd – "Barnacle" Doug Kuehne and are comin’ to collect the bounty they left behind last year! Avast, the Seattle Seafair Pirates will sail in from the seven seas and land on the beach at noon. Don’t be gettin in their way! The merchants will be puttin out their finest wares startin at around 9:30 AM and ye can shop, eat and dance along with the Pirates throughout the day! Don’t be forgettin’ that the first 500 kids (starting @ 10:30 am) will get a free toy pirate kit ta take home. Have your little pirates come dressed fer the occasion and visit the Kiwanis tent to get a free sample of a great root beer brewed here.  Later in the day they can be part of a Pirate look-a-like contest to win some booty.

7/1 - 7/25: The Responsi-Bull Project
Owning a Pit Bull - 7/1 - 7/25
Due to the incredible success of the previous offerings of The Responsi-Bull Project, four animal welfare organizations have partnered again to sponsor the program in July to encourage responsible pit bull ownership, and ultimately lower the euthanasia rates of this breed currently facing an epidemic of homeless.  A three part program, The Responsi-Bull Project includes FREE spay and neuter, a FREE responsible pit bull ownership workshop, and FREE obedience classes for pit bulls and their owners.
Part I: Pit-Fix
Beginning July 1st, for a limited time, owners of pit bulls can have their dogs spayed or neutered free of charge at the Coalition: HUMAnE Spay & Neuter Clinic in Tacoma.  To schedule an appointment email chappts@yahoo.com or call (253) 627-SPAY.  Email preferred.  A picture of your dog must be emailed to chappts@yahoo.com or mailed to the clinic to schedule an appointment – Space is limited. The clinic is located at 2106 Tacoma Avenue S., Tacoma, WA 98402.

Do you want to combat the misconceptions about the pit bull breed?  Worried about the Breed-Specific Legislation changes proposed in the Puget Sound? Tired of seeing people shy away from your beloved pit bull? Learn the “do’s and don’ts” of owning this amazing breed and help restore its family dog image.  Attend a FREE Responsible Pit Bull Ownership Workshop hosted by BullsEye Dog Rescue on Sunday, July 19th from 2-4 p.m., held at Positive Approach Dog Training located at 1501 S. Part III:  Train-A-Pit
Positive Approach Dog Training and BullsEye Dog Rescue have teamed up to offer a four week basic obedience class for pit bulls that is FREE to those who complete the class. You will be asked to pay a $40 registration fee and every week you attend you will receive $10 back.  Attend all 4 classes and the class is FREE (normally a $150 value.) Classes will be offered Saturday evenings from 2:30-3:30 p.m., 4-5 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. starting July 25th. Don’t miss this great opportunity to teach your dog new tricks!
