96.5 JACK FM in HD

What is HD Radio?
HD Radio is an upgrading of the way AM and FM radio signals are transmitted, from analog to digital signals. Sounds great. But what does that mean for you as a listener?

HD Radio technology allows KJAQ to transmit a high-quality digital signal. You do need an HD Radio Receiver to get the station... but the benefits are substantial:
FM radio with near CD-quality sound
No more static, pops, crackles or fades
Transmission of additional information, such as song titles and artists
Increased listening options with multicasting

What HD Radio technology is not...
HD Radio technology is not a subscription service, like satellite radio. It is the same free, over-the-air broadcast radio that we've always known. Only better. It is not something that consumers have to buy into. Everyone can choose to continue listening to KJAQ on their current radios, but eventually all AM/FM radios will incorporate digital technology. It is a natural evolution of the medium. HD Radio is not a competitor of satellite radio. It is an improvement to terrestrial AM and FM radio.

Hear it for yourself
If we do want to join the digital radio world, it'll mean (as of this date, at least) spending a little more for a new HD Radio-compatible car stereo system or a home stereo HD Radio component than for comparable non-HD systems. Prices continue to decrease, however, as more manufacturers enter the HD Radio receiver market. HD Radio receivers are even being offered as optional equipment in some new automobiles and — for select model lines — will become standard equipment within a year or two.

Some stereo brands, like Kenwood, offer add-on HD Radio modules that can connect to many of their existing car stereos.

JVC, Kenwood, Panasonic and Alpine are among those manufacturers who now offer car stereos with HD Radio reception built in.
